6th meeting of CPG PT-B - Copenhagen

The 6th meeting of project team B (PT-B) of the Conference Preparatory Group (CPG) was held last 26-28 February at the European Communications Office (ECO) headquarters in Copenhagen. The gathering was jointly chaired by Alexandre Vallet, for items from chapter 4 of the conference preparatory meeting (CPM) report, and Victor Glushko, for items from chapter 5 of that report. Nearly 50 participants attended, representing national regulatory authorities (NRAs), operators and regional organisations (the European Space Agency (ESA), European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT), the European Meteorological Network (EUMETNET) and the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO)).

For matters under this group’s responsibility, draft European common proposals (ECPs) were approved concerning revision of the technical and regulatory limits applied to Earth stations on board vessels (ESVs), the allocation of additional spectrum to Earth exploration satellite service (EESS) in the 7 GHz band and for maritime mobile satellite service in the 8 GHz band. The meeting likewise witnessed approval of updates to the briefs (documents used as technical support for producing and justifying the ECPs) for all items this group is responsible for.

The next CPG PT-B meeting is scheduled for this coming 12-15 May
