Bucharest hosted last 22-24 April a meeting of CEPT’s Committee for ITU Policy (Com-ITU). This committee, chaired by Marcin Krasuski of Poland, is in charge of European coordination with a view to participation in activities of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
The Com-ITU meeting basically served to prepare for the 2015 session of the ITU Council, to be held on 12-22 May. Among others, the group agreed on the European position concerning the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS), the working group for the Internet, preparation of the Union’s budget for the 2016-2017 period and the ITU headquarters.
Com-ITU also discussed the European position concerning revision of the structure of the ITU Standardisation Sector (ITU-T).
The next Com-ITU meeting will take place this coming 23-25 September in Lisbon.
