The Number Portability project team (PT NP) of the working group on Numbering and Networks (WG NaN) met last 10-11 June in Budapest at the invitation of Hungary’s regulatory authority, the National Media and Infocommunications Authority (NMHH). This PT produces studies, reports and recommendations concerning matters associated to number portability.
This meeting’s work focused on drawing up the following documents:
- Impact analysis report on more flexible use of numbers as identifiers (CLI - Calling Line Identification) of a communication’s origin;
- Report/study on how to facilitate change of provider and encourage competition in the machine-to-machine (M2M) services sector using over-the-air (OTA) solutions;
- Recommendation on access of entities without portability responsibilities to number portability databases.
The next PT NP meeting will be held this coming October.
