7th meeting of CPG PT-B - Copenhagen

The ECO’s Copenhagen offices hosted last 12-15 May the seventh meeting of Project Team B (PT-B) of the Conference Preparatory Group (CPG), one of the groups in charge of European preparation for the 2015 World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC-15). The gathering was jointly chaired by Alexandre Vallet of France (items from chapter 4 of the Conference Preparatory Meeting (CPM) Report) and Victor Glushko of Russia (items from Chapter 5 of the CPM Report). Nearly 50 participants attended, representing national regulatory authorities (NRAs), operators and regional organisations (European Space Agency (ESA), European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT), European National Meteorological Services (EUMETNET) and the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO)).

This meeting saw the approval of draft European common proposals (ECPs) concerning the revision of technical and regulatory limits applied to earth stations on board vessels (ESVs), about the allocation of additional spectrum to Earth exploration satellite service (EESS) in the 7 GHz band and for maritime mobile satellite service in the 8 GHz band. Also approved were the updated briefs (technical support documents used to produce and justify ECPs) for all items under this group’s responsibility.
