On 1 October 2015, ANACOM approved a final decision on the definition of terrestrial cover obligations and the amendment of the right of use of frequencies granted to MEO - Serviços de Comunicações e Multimédia (formerly PT Comunicações) in the context of digital terrestrial television (DTT).
Accordingly, right of use of frequencies ANACOM no. 6/2008, granted to MEO for DTT and associated with Multiplexer A (MUX A) for the transmission of television programme services of free unrestricted access, is amended to incorporate the following frequencies: channel 40 (622-630 MHz); channel 45 (662-670 MHz); channel 47 (678-686 MHz); and channel 48 (686-694 MHz), in accordance with the awards/areas of the present decision. The National Table of Frequency Allocations (NTFA) is amended accordingly.
Among the obligations approved by ANACOM, MEO was ordered to prepare a plan, within 10 working days, to provide information to users, clearly listing the areas/localities where information on the type of coverage available has been altered since 2012 (DTT to DTH). MEO is made responsible for the costs incurred or that will occur as a result of this change of information, which should include:
- provision of a file on the DTT website (http://tdt.telecom.pt https://tdt.telecom.pt/), structured by district/municipality/parish/locality, with a history of changes from DTT coverage to DTH and with indication of the date on which coverage information changed (from DTT to DTH);
- sending a communication by post or electronically to all Parish Councils which include a locality (or parts of a locality) affected by the change in information about the type of coverage available (from DTT to DTH).
Approval was also given to the report on the prior hearing and consultation held on the definition of terrestrial coverage obligations to be included in the DTT right of use of frequencies allocated to MEO, following ANACOM's decision of 25 July 2015https://www.anacom.pt/render.jsp?contentId=1360796.
