Renewal of rights of use of frequencies allocated in the 2100 MHz band for terrestrial electronic communications services - consultation

By final decision of 17 November 2015, ANACOM has approved a draft decision on the renewal of rights of use of frequencies allocated in the 2100 MHz band to NOS Comunicações (NOS), MEO - Serviços de Comunicações e Multimédia (MEO) and Vodafone Portugal - Comunicações Pessoais (Vodafone) for terrestrial electronic communications services.

While ANACOM considers that there is nothing to prevent the allocated rights of use of frequencies being renewed for a period of 15 years, it takes the position that conditions should be imposed on NOS, MEO and Vodafone further to those originally laid down, both in terms of coverage obligations and in terms of conditions governing use of frequencies; these additional conditions shall be in accordance with those laid down in Commission Implementing Decision 2012/688/EU.

This draft decision was submitted to the prior hearing of interested parties (Vodafone, MEO and NOS) under the terms of the Código de Procedimento Administrativo (Administrative Proceeding Code), and to the general consultation procedure laid down in Article 8 of LCE - Lei das Comunicações Eletrónicas (Electronic Communications Lawhttps://www.anacom.pt/render.jsp?categoryId=333114). In both cases, interested parties are given a period of 20 working days to comment in writing and in English; as such, comments are to be received no later than 21 December 2015 and should be sent by email to renovacao-umts@anacom.ptmailto:renovacao-umts@anacom.pt1.
