67th ETSI General Assembly - Sophia Antipolis


The 67th ETSI General Assembly was held last 19-20 April in Sophia Antipolis, France.

The GA approved 40 new memberships, including 29 full members, ten associate members and one observer. Overall, compared to the April 2015 GA, the total number of members and units of contribution grew respectively from 802 and 4100 to 817 and 4172.

The GA took note of the report submitted by the Financial Committee, concerning the Institute’s financial situation in 2015, which presents a positive result, and approved the budget guidelines for 2017 proposed by the director-general (DG), which keeps the values of the various UCs unchanged.

Also approved were ETSI’s Annual Report and its Long Term Strategy for 2016-2021.

The DG informed the members about ongoing discussions in the European Committee for Standardisation and the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardisation regarding eventual application of provisions of the Lisbon Treaty in the respective rules and subsequent adjustment of the respective decision-making instruments to the qualified majority vote rules.

Lastly, in the area of cooperation the creation/renewal of a number of memorandums of understanding and cooperation agreements was approved.

The next GA is scheduled for 29-30 November 2016 in Sophia Antipolis.
