NGN EWG meeting - Brussels

Meetings of drafters and of the expert working group on Next Generation Networks (NGN EWG) of BEREC were held on 20 and 21 April in Brussels. The following were presented at the NGN EWG meeting on the 20th: the draft internal report on “Potential Regulatory Implications of Software-Defined Networking and Network Functions Virtualisation” for approval for internal use and submission to the European Commission, and the draft BEREC common position on wholesale broadband access offerings (“Common Position on Layer 2 Wholesale Access Products”) for approval and submission to the June 2016 BEREC plenary meeting for subsequent public consultation. A presentation was later given on the status of the process of switching to all-IP access networks in Germany, Croatia, Italy and France.

At the drafters meeting on the 21st, discussion continued about the report on “Challenges and Drivers of Next Generation Access (NGA) Roll-out and Infrastructure Competition”, preparing the final version for submission to the same plenary meeting for subsequent public consultation.
