Alexandre de Streel

Alexandre de Streel is Professor of European law at the University of Namur (Belgium) where he is the Director of the Research Centre for Information, Law and Society (CRIDS). He is also a joint-academic director at the Centre on Regulation in Europe (CERRE).

Alexandre is also assessor (member of the decisional body) at the Belgian Competition Authority, visiting professor at the University of Louvain (Belgium), member of the Scientific Committee of the Florence School of Regulation (FSR) at the European University Institute in Florence and visiting fellow at European Institute of Public Administration (EIPA) in Maastricht.

Alexandre regularly advises international organisations (such as the European Commission, European Parliament, OECD, EBRD) and national regulatory authorities on regulatory and competition issues in the digital industries.

Previously, he has been European advisor to the Belgian Deputy Prime Minister, counsellor in charge of economic and employment policies at the Belgian Permanent Representation to the European Union during the 2010 Belgian Presidency and expert in charge of telecommunications regulation at the European Commission, DG Communications Networks, Content and Technology.

He holds a Ph.D. in Law from the European University Institute (Florence) on the relationship between telecom regulation and competition law, and a Master Degree in Economics from the University of Louvain.
