The 33rd BEREC plenary meeting was held last 7-8 December in Copenhagen.
The process of electing Jeremy Godfrey (Commission for Communications Regulation (ComReg) – Ireland) to chair BEREC in 2019 took place at the meeting. George Michaelides (Office of the Commissioner of Electronic Communications and Postal Regulation (OCECPR) – Cyprus) and Dan Sjöblom (Post and Telecom Authority (PTS) – Sweden) were elected vice-chairs for 2018. The chairs for 2017 (Sébastien Soriano of the Autorité de Régulation des Communications Électroniques et des Postes (ARCEP) – France) and 2019 (Jeremy Godfrey of ComReg) will also be vice-chairs in 2018, in accordance with the BEREC rules of procedure. The BEREC chair in 2018 is Johannes Gungl of Austria’s Rundfunk und Telekom Regulierungs (RTR).
At this plenary meeting the following documents were approved:
- report on the termination rates benchmark;
- report on transparency and comparability of international roaming charges;
- decision on working groups for 2018;
- working programme for 2018;
- report on implementation of Regulation 2015/2120 and associated BEREC guidelines;
- report on implementation of the broadband cost reduction directive.
