PB-NAV meeting - February 2018

The ESA’s PB-NAV (satellite navigation) met last 8 February in Harwell, United Kingdom.

The participants in the meeting debated topics concerning the programmes under this committee’s responsibility (NAVISP, GALILEO, EGNOS). Note was taken of the report on the current situation of the activities of NAVISP (new navigation programme implemented by the ESA following the transfer of the GALILEO and EGNOS systems to the EC). A report was presented on the current situation of European GNSS – Evolution (EGEP); the working plan for NAVISP activities in 2018 was also approved.

As for the delegation agreement between the ESA and the European Commission concerning GALILEO, a decision was made to move toward a procedure of written approval of this instrument, as it was considered that not all necessary information for the purpose of this meeting had been gathered. The Committee took note of the current situation of implementation of the delegation agreement between the ESA and the GNSS Supervisory Authority (GSA) concerning GALILEO FOC (full operational capacity).
