5th CPG PTC meeting - April 2018

Paris hosted last 24-26 April the fifth meeting of CPG project team C (PTC) of CEPT.

The meeting was chaired by Martin Weber of Germany and counted the participation of 43 participants representing 20 national regulatory bodies, international organisations and industry.

PTC is responsible for debating and proposing to the CPG the European common proposals (ECPs) to defend at the 2019 World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC-19) regarding the items under its responsibility in the scope of CEPT/CPG (1.8, 1.9.1, 1.9.2, 1.10 and 9.1.4), which concern issues in the area of maritime and aeronautic communications, specifically spectrum needs and regulatory provisions for introduction and use of the Global Aeronautic Distress and Safety System (GADSS) and regulatory questions for updating and modernising the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS).

This meeting served to review the proposed working documents on various items under discussion in PTC, so that the work on drawing up European common proposals for items 1.9.2 and 1.10 could begin. The aim is to respectively propose the introduction of a VDE-SAT satellite component and the modification of chapter VII of the Radio Regulations on emergency and security communications.

The project team also approved the various documents, with a view to submitting them to the CPG for examination/approval.

The next CPG PTC meeting will be held on 16-18 October 2018 at a place still to be determined.
