ANACOM participates in the high-level summit of BEREC and Regulatel


The Chair of ANACOM, João Cadete de Matos, participated in the high-level summit of the Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications (BEREC) and the Latin American Forum of Regulatory Telecommunications Authorities (Regulatel), which took place on 19 and 20 November 2018, in Lima, Peru.

At the summit, which was organized by the Federal Telecommunications Institute of Mexico (IFT) and the Supervisory Agency for Private Investment in Telecommunications of Peru (OSIPTEL), the main challenges faced by regulators in fulfilling their mission in a context of a rapid development of the digital ecosystem were discussed, and the statement entitled "Regulatory Responses for the New Digital Ecosystem" was approved.

The Chair of ANACOM gave two presentations, one on "Connectivity improvement to support digital transformation" and the second on "Challenges and opportunities for BEREC and REGULATEL cooperation". He also held bilateral meetings with the Chairs of the regulatory authorities who attended at the meeting, which provided an opportunity for exchanging experiences and establishing agreements for closer mutually beneficial cooperation.
