Presentation by José Barros, ANACOM Director of External Relations, entitled “Atlantic Submarine Cable Platform - A Smart, Green & Blue Approach” given at the “Submarine Networks EMEA 2019” Conference on 13 February 2019 in London (United Kingdom).
The presentation focused on:
- the need to ensure the existence of a new Mainland-Azores-Madeira (CAM) submarine cable ring, if possible, in 2023, to ensure Portuguese territorial cohesion in terms of communications.
- the establishment of an Atlantic platform for the mooring of international submarine cables;
- plans for the provision of services additional to submarine cables in Portugal's exclusive economic zone;
- projects launched in Portugal on seismic detection through submarine cables;
- Portugal's availability to cooperate and share its experiences with the international community.
