A videoconference meeting of TSAG, which is part of the ITU Telecommunications Standardisation Sector (ITU-T) was held last 21-25 September.
The various progress reports from the ITU-T study groups were presented and approved. The final report of the NETWORK2030 group was subject to intense debate, as it presented proposals for the ITU to create a new IP protocol to meet communication networks’ demand for speed and capacity after 2030. A final decision on this matter will consequently be made at the next TSAG meeting in January 2021, implying that a set of additional studies must be conducted beforehand and the gaps analysed with better technical justification.
