ANACOM approves consultation report on making spectrum available in the 700 MHz band (duplex gap and guard bands)

ANACOM consulted the market to assess the position of the various players regarding their interest in the availability of spectrum in the 700 MHz frequency band, specifically in those sub-bands that are still available (733-758 MHz, duplex gap bands; 694-703 MHz and 788-791 MHz, guard bands). The consultation also seeks to assess positions on the respective conditions of access and use, as well as on the timetable for making the spectrum available.

In this context, a public consultation was held from 27 December 2022 to 7 February 2023, which sought to compile the positions of the various players in the market - manufacturers, operators, private and public entities and others - on availability in the 700 MHz band – duplex gap and guard bands. These views will be taken into account and considered in the subsequent adoption of ANACOM decisions on the matter, including with regard to the definition of the procedure and conditions for spectrum allocation, and the respective conditions of use.

ANACOM is pleased to note the positive and constructive nature of the different responses, which revealed a significant level of interest in this matter, and is now publishing the public consultation report, approved by ANACOM decision of 28 March 2023.
