Approval of the renewal of the right allocated to MEO to use the DTT radio spectrum (MUX A)

By decision of 31 October 2023, ANACOM has approved the final decision to renew the right to use the radio frequency spectrum attributed to MEO - Serviços de Comunicações e Multimédia, S.A. (MEO) for provision of the digital terrestrial television broadcasting service associated with Multiplexer A (MUX A). The right is renewed until 10 December 2030 (a period of seven years), maintaining the conditions currently contained in Right of Use of Frequencies no. 06/2008 (to be reissued).

Approval was also given to the report on the prior hearing and public consultation, (held on the respective draft decisionhttps://www.anacom.pt/render.jsp?contentId=1740004). In response to these procedures, timely contributions were received from the following: MEO, ERC - Entidade Reguladora da Comunicação Social, RTP - Rádio e Televisão de Portugal, SIC - Sociedade Independente de Comunicação, TVI - Televisão Independente, Vodafone Portugal –  Comunicações Pessoais.  Contributions were also received and from 9 individual citizens.
