ERO/ETO Joint Council - Copenhagen

/ Updated on 30.08.2006

The Administrative Councils of the ERO and the ETO held a joint meeting on 26 April in Copenhagen and made the following decisions:

- As good management and correct accounting was registered in financial year 2004, the respective annual report and accounts and audit report were approved;

- The indicative ERO and ETO budgets for 2006 were approved (the final version will be approved at the next meeting in November); they continue to be based on the principle of not increasing the level of contributions;

- The indicative ERO and ETO working programmes for 2006 were approved, subject also to rectification at the November meeting. This is specifically due to the study to be carried out by the Electronic Communications Committee (ECC) ? via which it will indicate its necessities vis-à-vis the Office?s support, with PT7 and TG3 (UWB) expected to require more support ? as well as the possibility that the ERO might develop a project for one-stop notification of standards under article 6.4 of the R&TTE Directive;

- In recognition of the good work carried out by the expert contracted in the scope of the Regional Radiocommunications Conference (RRC), agreement was reached to extend that expert?s contract for as long as possible, until September 2007;

- Noted with satisfaction, for both acceptance and interest shown by participants as well as financially, were the results of yet another CEPT Conference. These are topical conferences organised by the Office every 18 months, with the most recent one held in Barcelona on 13-14 April 2005. In this regard, the Spanish authorities were also thanked for their strong commitment to same by supporting realisation of this activity;

- The question of where to hold the next conference was considered. The ERO suggested that Berlin should be chosen as venue, thus coinciding with the CEPT Presidency then to be held by Germany. But no decision has been made yet, and the possibility of postponing this conference from September 2006 to the spring of 2007 is also on the table;

- The current Presidency of the ERO and ETO Councils of Administration was re-elected by acclamation. Mr Monfort (France) will continue as President, while Mr Diepenbeek (the Netherlands) will continue to hold the Vice-Presidency.

The Councils will next meet jointly in ordinary session on 29-30 November, a meeting that will proceed to final approval of the 2006 budget and the Office?s working programme for the same year.
