Postal Directive Committee - Brussels


The ninth meeting of the Postal Directive Committee (PDC) was held on 7 June in Brussels.
 
The Committee chairman reported that the European Commission planned to adopt in the near future the postal initiatives envisaged for 2006, i.e., the third report on application of the Postal Directive and the proposed revision of same. Frederik Rasmussen of the European Commission (EC) gave a presentation on results of the statistical data collection carried out in 2005 by the EC with the help of CERP and the postal operators, and highlighted the success of the effort. It was also reported that plans call for the collection of 2006 statistical data to begin this coming September. Lastly, the Commission put forward the results of the quality of intra-community postal service produced by the UNEX system, whose measurement is assured by the International Post Corporation (IPC).
