On the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding for the development of cooperation between the Regional Commonwealth in the Field of Communications (RCC) and the European Conference of Postal Telecommunications Administrations (CEPT).
CEPT, represented by its President, Saraiva Mendes (Portugal), and RCC, represented by the Director-General of the RCC Executive Committee, Evgueny Manyakin, and acting as independent regional organizations within the frameworks of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) and the Universal Postal Union (UPU), have signed a memorandum which lays the bases for wide cooperation in the fields of electronic communication and post, on October 1st, 2002, in Marrakesh, Morocco, by the occasion of the 16th Plenipotentiary Conference of the ITU.
RCC and CEPT will promote information exchange, coordinate positions on matters of mutual interest and those which regard the ITU and UPU activities as a whole, as well as about their organizations, such as structures or rules of work.
CEPT and RCC also agree to cooperate in the effort for developing electronic communication and post in both regions by exchanging experiences, delegates to sessions of their supreme and working bodies and relevant documents.
