Quality of service of the FTS - model of disclosure to users

ANACOM gave approval, by way of recommendation, to the model of disclosure to end users of information on quality of service which, pursuant to Regulation no. 46/2005 of 14 June must be made available to end users by the companies providing the service of access to the public telephone network at a fixed location and the publically available fixed telephone service (FTS):  It was likewise decided to recommend to companies providing the FTS that they adopt this model for disclosure within two months following the date on which this decision is approved.

This model of disclosure, approved on 24 September 2008, results from the position of ANACOM with respect to the main comments on the preliminary version of the recommendation, which was sent on 17 April 2008 to companies providing the FTS which have provided, to date, information on quality of service to end users.

The adoption of this model of disclosure is intended to help improve comparability and clarity of information on quality of service which must, under the terms of the Law on Electronic Communications (article 40 of Law no. 5/2004of 10 February), be made available to end users.

It is the intention of ANACOM to evaluate the extent to which the companies providing the FTS follow this recommendation and its effectiveness, according to which it may be deemed necessary to establish other types of regulatory measures.
