EU launches public consultation on open platforms for new services

Today the European Commission launched a public consultation on a report on the barriers that prevent access to the new services and applications of Information Society through open platforms in interactive television and 3G mobile communications services. 

The consultation, carried out in compliance with the objectives established by the Barcelona and Seville European Councils, of March and June 2002, respectively, ends on 15 February 2003.

A public hearing is scheduled to February 4, 2003, in Brussels, on this document.
