Since 1 January 2009, the Czech Republic has held the presidency of the Council of the European Union (EU). The website of the Czech presidency is now available, with information in Czech, French and English on the work programme and on the calendar of events, listing not only those of the Czech presidency but also cultural events taking place alongside.
At a sectoral level, note should be made, in the agenda of the Czech presidency, of the intention to obtain an agreement during its mandate between the Council and the European Parliament on the ''telecoms package'' with the aim of bringing a timely conclusion to the review of the sector’s regulatory framework, as well the approval of the proposed revision of the GSM directive and the roaming regulation.
