ANACOM Conference 2009 ''20 Years Later: Why Regulate?''

The third International ANACOM Conference is being held today, 30 September, on the theme ''20 Years Later: Why Regulate?'' taking place in the Large Auditorium of Culturgest, at the head office of Caixa Geral de Depósitos, in Lisbon. You can participate in the Conference through an online broadcast.

This initiative is a key event celebrating the 20th anniversary of ANACOM, one of the world's oldest regulators of the communications sector, and the second oldest in Europe. It is marked by the publication of a chronology of key events, which, diverse in nature, illustrate the evolution of the sector over the last 20 years. This chronology will also be available at the event.

The Conference brings together key national and international figures, including representatives from the European Commission and national regulatory authorities. Its goal is to provide an opportunity for joint reflection on the major issues that currently face the regulation of the communications sector, also on a prospective basis, including the challenges which are envisaged for the future and which should already be anticipated and considered.
