Access to the Tariff Monitor

The Mobile Telephone Service Tariff Monitor, a simulator developed by ANACOM with the cooperation of the three mobile operators, (TMN, Vodafone and Optimus) is a free service that gives private consumers the information they need to help choose between the different mobile billing and tariff alternatives on offer in Portugal.

This simulator was launched in July 2005 to cover voice services and was expanded to include text messaging and multimedia messaging in November.

As of 31 December and according to latest figures released by Anacom, 32,083 accesses and 72,048 simulations were made by users in the five months following its launch.  This means that on average 14,400 simulations are being made by users every month.

Among the various functions available – monthly consumption, call and message cost comparison, the virtual call and message simulator – the tariff consultation and the message and call comparison tools have proved the most popular with users.

According to figures, over the five months, 38,882 tariff consultations and 22,606 message and call cost comparisons were made, representing respectively 54% and 31.4% of all simulations made.
