Denmark takes over EU Presidency on 01.01.2012


Yesterday (1 January 2012), Denmark took over the presidency of the Council of the European Union, holding the position for a period of six months, and continuing the presidential Trio which begun with Poland (second half of 2011) and ends with Cyprus (2nd half 2012).

The Danish presidency has set out four key areas of focus: a responsible Europe, a dynamic Europe, a green Europe and a safe Europe.
