ICP promotes seminar on radio and telecommunications equipment

/ Updated on 24.01.2002

On Tuesday, 11 January, ICP will promote an awareness seminar on the measures associated with the directive on radio-communications equipment and telecommunications terminal (R&TTE), to be transposed to national legislation within the first semester of 2000.

This directive replaces the present system and its objective is to simplify the procedures associated with verifying and mutually recognising the conformity of radio-communications equipment and public telecommunications network terminal. It thus establishes a regulatory framework for placing this on the market, their free circulation and their functioning, within a context where the main players are the manufacturers, tradesmen and users and operators of public telecommunication networks.

The seminar will take place at the Alfa Hotel in Lisbon and will include the participation of representatives from the European Commission and from European normalisation and industry organisations.
