Celebration of World Consumer Rights Day


World Consumer Rights Day, an annual event marking the date on which President John F. Kennedy highlighted the issue of consumer rights in a speech to the Congress of the United States in 1962, was held on 15 March.

ANACOM has marked the day with the release of the report "The Electronic Communications Consumer 2015https://www.anacom.pt/render.jsp?contentId=1381277'', which summarises information compiled about end-users of electronic communications services in residential and business segments. Available data is also presented on individuals and businesses which do not subscribe to electronic communications services.

Furthermore, in liaison with DGC - Direção Geral do Consumidor (Directorate General for the Consumer), ANACOM will promote distribution of the guide ''Problems with your operator? Find out what to do and who to turn tohttps://www.anacom.pt/render.jsp?contentId=1121635'', which offers users advice on the best way to deal any problems they might experience with communications services - fixed and mobile telephone, Internet, television and postal services.

The guide will be distributed through various initiatives organized by DGC to mark the occasion, starting today, and continuing until the end of March. In particular, a conference was held on consumer protection in the digital economy, on 15 March, at the Strategy and Studies Office, at Feira Futurália (16-19 March at Feira Internacional de Lisboa (FIL), Lisbon), with a series of information sessions addressed to consumers held in various locations.

ANACOM is taking part in the round table being held to mark this day, on the theme ''Consumer Conversations - Communicate without error'', organised by the Secretaria Regional da Inclusão e Assuntos Sociais (Regional Secretariat for Inclusion and Social Affairs), Autonomous Region of Madeira. This initiative took place on15 March at the Centro Comercial La Vie (2nd floor, Espaço Piano), in Funchal, at 3 pm.

ANACOM is also marking the day on its Consumer Portal recalling the key events that took place in 2015 in relation to the use of electronic communications services.
