Notification regarding the end of existing restrictions on operations on the 800 MHz frequency band
By decision of 10 March 2016, ANACOM has notified the companies MEO - Serviços de Comunicações e Multimédia, NOS Comunicações and Vodafone Portugal - Comunicações Pessoais as to the end of the restrictions applicable to the 800 MHz frequency band, as laid down in paragraph 8 of article 34 and point a) of paragraph 8 of article 35 of the Multiband Auction Regulationhttps://www.anacom.pt/render.jsp?contentId=1102165.
Consequently, the coverage obligations to which the companies are subject in that band, established by ANACOM decisionhttps://www.anacom.pt/render.jsp?contentId=1172487 of 22 August 2013 on the implementation of the geographical component of the coverage obligations in the 800 MHz frequency band, and by decisionhttps://www.anacom.pt/render.jsp?contentId=1381268 of 3 March 2016 establishing the reference speed associated with the coverage obligations in this band, are to be accomplished within 6 months to 1 year for 50% to 100% of the parishes in question following the date of notification.
Network access obligations to which companies are subject in the 800 MHz band are to be observed for a period of 10 and 5 years, respectively with regard to the agreements referred to in points a) and b) of article 35, paragraph 4 of this Regulation and the agreements referred to in point c) and b) of paragraph 4 of the same article (period also calculated from the date of notification).
It should also be noted that the 50% reduction in the value of the fee applicable to the 800 MHz band, as provided for in article 4 of the Administrative Rule on feeshttps://www.anacom.pt/render.jsp?contentId=1104871, is discontinued.
