ANACOM approved on 6 April 2022 the final decision regarding the proposal presented by MEO - Serviços de Comunicações e Multimédia (MEO) to remedy the lack of coverage of the land-based digital terrestrial television (DTT) service, in the town of Baiao, Sao Marcos da Serra, municipality of Silves, in compliance with ANACOM’s decision of 9 April 2020https://www.anacom.pt/render.jsp?contentId=1523124.
Accordingly and in view of the proposal presented by MEO, ANACOM decided, inter alia, as follows:
- To order MEO, within 20 working days as of the date of notification of this decision, to install a transmitter in Foia, to broadcast on channel 28, and to comply, in the context of the solution to be implemented, with the communication plan presented and described in this decision;
- To amend the National Frequency Allocation Table, providing for the reservation of radioelectric channel 28 (526-534 MHz), to be allocated by means of full accessibility by the holder of the right of use for frequencies (RUF) for the DTT service, to which Multiplexer A is associated, for the transmission of free-to-air television programme services;
- To amend the ICP-ANACOM RUF No 06/2008, allocated to MEO, by integrating radio channel 28 (526-534 MHz) in the referred title and submitting its use to the conditions defined in the DTT RUF;
- To determine that MEO, within 90 working days, as from the start of operation of the transmitter to be installed, submits to ANACOM the information identified in point 3.A of the decision of 16 May 2013, as amended by point 5.2 of the decision of 4 October 2019https://www.anacom.pt/render.jsp?contentId=1493731, concerning coverage (conditions associated to the DTT RUF);
- to reinstate the land-based DTT service coverage obligation, suspended by ANACOM’s decision of 9 April 2020https://www.anacom.pt/render.jsp?contentId=1523124, in the town of Baiao, Sao Marcos da Serra, municipality of Silves, within 20 working days, as of the date of notification of this decision.
On this date, approval was given also to the report of the prior hearing and public consultation to which the respective draft decisionhttps://www.anacom.pt/render.jsp?contentId=1714581, approved on 22 December 2021, was submitted.
