Portuguese candidature to the UPU Board of Directors and Postal Operations Council

Portugal decided to submit its candidature to the Board of Directors (BD) and a new candidature to the Postal Operations Council (POC), in the elections that will be held on next 29 September 2004 in the Congress of Bucharest of the Universal Postal Union (UPU), which will be held from 15 September to 5 October.

These candidatures fall within the Portuguese objective of reinforcing its participation in the UPU activities, in which they have actively participated as member and President of the POC and as observer in the BA.

Portugal also formalised its candidature to the position of General Director of the UPU International Secretariat, through Carlos Silva, from CTT - Correios de Portugal, who have recently benefited from the support of the Portuguese-speaking countries at the VIII Ministerial Meeting of Post and Telecommunications of the Portuguese-speaking countries (CPLP).
