Biography note of Rosa Isabel Aza Conejo

Rosa Aza has devoted a good part of her life to the University. She is Professor in Commerse by the Higher School of Commerce of Gijón, and has a degree in Economics from the University of Santiago de Compostela and a Diploma of Advanced Studies at the University of Valladolid. In 1976 she joined the University of Oviedo, as Professor of the Department of Economics, in the Area of foundations of economic analysis. In her long academic activity, she has taught various subjects of economic theory, being the central matter microeconomic analysis, including market regulation issues.

She has had different academic responsibilities as Director of the School of Business Studies of Gijón, and member of the Board of the University of Oviedo.

She has designed and implemented several postgraduate degrees including the Master in transports and logistics management and the expert course on logistics.

With respect to research, the most important lines in her work are related to the economic analysis of the tourism and transport and she is the author of several articles and books in these fields. She has given seminars and conferences in Spain and abroad.

She has combined her academic work with the professional activity being Member of the Board of Caja de Ahorros de Asturias and Chairwoman of its investment Committee.

Also she was chairwoman of TeleCable, leading company in the sector of telecommunications in Asturias and member of its Executive Committee.

Member of the Board of the consortium of the fair centre and exhibitions of Gijón and of the Board of SADEI, (Asturian society of economic and industrial studies). Chairwoman of the Board VIASTUR (Highway Concessionaire of the Principality of Asturias).

She is Chairwoman of the CNSP, the Spanish NRA on postal market, since July, 2010.

At the time of her appointment to this position, besides her activity as Professor of the University of Oviedo and Director of two Graduate Certificates in Transport and Logistics imatters, she was a member of the Board of SADEI and chaired the Control Committee of the Caja de Ahorros de Asturias and the Board of Aucalsa (Astur-Leonese Highway Concessionaire).
